Preparation
Make sure that the surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry. It is particularly important that new surfaces are fully dry.
- All defective or poorly adhering material, dirt, grease and wax must be completely removed.
- Prime new or bare surfaces with an appropriate Dulux Trade primer and treat any knots in wood with an appropriate knotting solution.
- Rub down previously painted surfaces thoroughly, using ‘wet flatting’ methods where possible, then wipe off with a damp, lint free cloth. Pre 1960's painted surfaces may contain harmful lead, so special precautions must be taken
- Any surface defects should be filled with the appropriate filler
Application
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin. We recommend to test a small area before painting the entire surface to ensure compatibility
- Stir thoroughly before use.
- Start with 1 coat of in the appropriate colour, and allow at least 6 hours for it to dry before applying the Dulux Trade High Gloss.
- If you need new work to dry quickly, , available in white only, can be used as an alternative to the Dulux Trade Undercoat
- Apply 1 or 2 coats with a brush or roller only. Do not spray.
- If you need to apply a second coat of High Gloss, ensure that you leave at least 16 hours drying time between coats.
- On rough or textured surfaces, or when using special process colours (see appropriate Dulux Trade colour literature), 2 coats will be required to achieve full opacity.
