Overview
Fiddes Decking Oil is a solvent-based finish for use on rough sawn decking and exterior timber including panelling, sheds, and fences. The water repellent oil penetrates deeply into both smooth and planed exterior wood. It's formulated to preserve, protect and restore wood whilst stopping splitting and deters the surface growth of algae. It also contains UV filters that resist colour fade.

Preparation
Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, and debris.
- Remove any fungal growth, dirt or moss with a stiff brush and decking cleaner.
- Remove any previous finishes by sanding with a 120 grit sandpaper or using a stripper then clean with white spirit.
- Rub down bare wood with a 120-grade sandpaper, removing all traces of dust.
Application
Before applying the product test a small area on the surface to be oiled to ensure you are happy with the finished results. Colours may vary depending on the surface to be oiled.
- Always apply in dry conditions and at temperatures above 5 degrees.
- Stir contents thoroughly before and during use.
- Use a good quality brush and apply in the direction of the grain.
- Ideally apply to all sides of new decking prior to fitting.
- Leave to dry 6-12 hours before applying a second coat.
- Lightly sand if necessary prior to applying the second coat.
- Leave to dry 24-48 hours before use.
- Longer drying times may occur during cold, damp, or humid conditions.
